first burn and good omens.

I have had the two most exciting Saturdays of the summer. Granted, I think there have only been two Saturdays, but we're going to roll with it....

Two Saturdays ago I went up to Lyman, Wyoming. Yeah, Lyman. It's a bustling metropolis that is soon to catch the eye of many roadtrippers with its one Maverick country store. That Maverick also happens to have cheaper gas than we do down here, so what are you saying now about Lyman, eh? Anyway, my parents own a house up there, and they're trying to sell it, so I went up with my dad to get the plod of dirt ready for grass seed. It took a long time. There were no clouds in the sky. And I forgot sunscreen. Cue first sunburn of the season! Oh yes, my friends. My face was redder than a tomato, and my arms sported eye-catching farmer's tan lines. I think that all the time I spent in the sun last summer altered my genes, because I'm not turning as white as fast as I used to. This is a huge milestone.

This past Saturday does not involve dirt. In fact, just the opposite. I went with my brother and dad to an ATV/dirt bike "park" where they have tracks for you to ride around on. I went on a track, by myself, and misfortune stepped in. I was riding along, NOT looking ahead, when I noticed that the strip of dry land I was riding on kept getting smaller and smaller while the mini-lakes on either side of me kept growing. I tried to keep my bike on the dry part, but fate stepped in, tipped my bike at a 45 degree angle, and sent me jumping into waist deep water. I'll pause for a moment while you create that image in your head.......

By now I have a crowd observing me. One guy comes over and proceeds to tell me what a mess I'm in. To say the least, buddy. My brother eventually finds his way over and manages to ride the bike to safety. Meanwhile, I'm stuck trying to get my legs out of the swamp mud which has now engulfed me up to my knees. One leg comes out fairly easy while the other is stuck good. I manage to get it out, but I leave my shoe behind. Don't worry, I got it out after a few minutes of digging. So for the rest of the day, I was wet and muddy. The worst part? I had just washed my socks that I was wearing that day.

On a completely different and unrelated, but still extremely important, note: HP 7.2 comes out in less than 2 months. Get excited.
